Hi everyone, I'm Retha, a fine art graduate

who somehow ended up knees-deep in

fondant and has never once wanted to climb out.

I've been teaching cake craft for over ten years now, and what still gets me out of bed every morning is the same thing it always was, finding new ways to shift the boundaries of what cake decorating can do!

I specialise in figurine modelling and sculptural cake work, and I teach both freehand and with molds, because I believe every artist should know how to do it from scratch before they decide which tools they love. My fine art background sneaks into everything I do, the way I think about proportion, storytelling, texture, light. I'm not sure you can ever fully separate the artist from the medium, and I've stopped trying.

My goal as a teacher has always been to give you the why behind every technique, because once you understand the why, you're not just following a tutorial, you are thinking in sugar.
